Mark Hettinger had a calling to serve others. Entering into a life of service to help others does not mean you are robotic and void of a personal life. Aside from being a great fireman, Marc is also a very proud gay man. This in no way impedes his ability to do the work that is required. We are often taught not to bring our personal lives into our jobs, until our personal lives are viewed by others as different. One’s sexual orientation does not define them, but allows them the ability to take their life experiences and overcome suffering.
